San Diego Day3

Well, I'm a day late in posting this. We boought a waterproof disposable camera for yesterday's kayak tour, and didn't get them put on a disc until this afternoon. We started out yesterday on the kayak tour. We left La Jolla beach and took a 2 hour tour to the La Jolla caves and around the area. It was great. We saw a bunch of Sea Lions sunning themselves on the cliffs. It was pretty sweet. From there we walked around the shops and met up with a friend of mine who was also in town from Utah. We went to lunch and then we split up and Greg and I went back to the hotel to get ready for the night. We spent a few hours by the pool and hot tub afterwards and met some females who were in the hotel. They were off to dinner so Greg and I went to dinner ourselves at this awesome Italian place called the Venetian. We finished and came back to watch Juno in our car. We don't have a DVD player in our room, but we do in our car. So we watched Juno and then we went and spent some more time in the hot tub. The ladies were there again and we talked to them for a while. That was nice. They are from Michigan and were in town for a school test. Below are some pics, enjoy.

Sandy Aygo Day 2

Today was pretty fun. We started off by heading to the gym and getting some continental breakfast. From there we went to the beach. Ocean Beach in San Diego was our destination and it was a lot of fun. It was overcast the whole time we were on the beach. We started walking on the pier and through the shops, and then it got sunny...just in time for us to leave. We came back and got in the hot tub and laid out. From there we got ready for the Padres vs Reds game. It was fun, but way too cold. We stayed for about half the game. We wound up coming back to the hotel and sitting in the hot tub again. From there we wanted to hit up a casino but couldn't find one. At this point we're just watching some SNL so enjoy some pics...

San Diego Day 1

Well, technically this is day 2. Greg and I flew in last night and landed around 10:30 local time. We went to Avis to get our car, only to find out that we rented our car from Alamo. So we took the shuttle back to the airport and waited for the Alamo shuttle. We finally got our car and checked into our room about 2:00 am local time. We went to bed and that was about it.

This morning we woke up and ate breakfast at Denny's then were off to Wal Mart for some supplies. Apparently the city of San Diego doesn't allow Wal Mart by our hotel for some reason. We made the trek and got taken care of, then I guess I fat-fingered the GPS so on the way back I took us about 15 miles out of the way. Our Denny's/Wal Mart trip ended up taking 3 hours. Good times.

After that we sat in the hot tub and then went to get massages. After the massages we went to Balboa park which is a really cool historic park with a lot of beautiful scenery.

We came back from the park and took a cab to the Gaslamp District to eat and walk around. Below are some pics...enjoy.

Our car...Cadillac STS

Greg and I in the Chinese friendship gardens by a sign that says something...not sure what it is though.

Just a cool shot in the sunset

By the fountain, so happy!

Well then...

So sometimes I don't really know what to write about. I suppose I could tell you about my same-old day at work calling rich people and kissing their butt. Or tell you about the awesome laundry folding I did yesterday. Really my life is fairly mundane, which after the past year is really nice. I do want to post more but a lot of time just don't have any "original" material to write about. I decided if that's the case, I'll just post some music, since I love music more than life itself.

Here is a great artist I've just come across named Amos Lee. This song is absolutely amazing. I've included the lyrics below as well. Let me know what you think, and if this was just a stupid idea to begin with.

"Arms Of A Woman"

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
Although now,
most of my days i spend alone.
A thousand miles,
from the place i was born.
But when she wakes me,
she takes me back home.

Now, most days,
i spend like a child.
Who's afraid of ghosts in my mind.
I know, there aint nothing out there.
I'm still afraid to turn on the lights.

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
Although now,
most of my days a i spend alone.
A thousand miles,
the place i was born.
When she wakes me,
she takes me back home.

A thousand miles,
the place i was born.
When she wakes me,
she takes me back home.

I am at ease in the arms of a woman.
Although now,
most of my days i spend alone.
A thousand miles,
from the place i was born.
When she wakes me,
she takes me..
Ya, when she wakes me,
she takes me back home.
When she wakes me,
she takes me back home.

Thank you mama

Just a quick thank you to my mom. She threw up for 7 months with me, and even worse, has dealt with my crap for the last 28 years. I love you and could never thank you enough.

Another thank you to my second moms. I have a few, and they know who they are. I love you as well and hope you're all doing well.

Finally thank you to the rest of the moms out there. It's TOUGH to be a father, and even more to be a mother. You're all amazing, and I do NOT envy you're job at all. Mothers, not money, are what makes the world go round.

Love you all. Happy Day

Old Friends

This past Friday it was a nice day, and Keaghan had been asking to see my friend Joey. A little back story:

I had two friends growing up named Joey Hawkins and Jim McCarthy. We went to school together, starting at Altara Elementary. Go Kittyhawks! We were all really close all the way up through high school.

May of 1996 Joey was killed at a party over a simple misunderstanding and becuase one idiot was doped up on drugs. It was pretty traumatizing for me at the time, not only because he died, but because how it happened.

December of 1997 Jim died while hanging out the door of a Jeep. He fell out and got ran over. Before Joey died, he and Jim had become best friends. On Jim's casket was a picture of the two of them during better times.

So on to the present. Keaghan had been asking to see my friend Joey and so since it was a nice day out I figured it was as good a day as any. We visited both of them and I let the kids run around. Sounds a little morbid, but it's really peaceful, really beatiful, and obviously really safe.

Below are some pics of the headstones for those who haven't been able to visit for a while, or ever.

You'll notice on each headstone that there are some dandylions. Keaghan felt bad that there weren't any flowers for them so he picked some himself. What a sweet boy.

Catching up...

It seems to be a recurring theme here, but again it's been a while since my last post.

Keaghan started soccer, so you know I had to take pics.

Love the smile

All in all it's been fun. Keaghan loves to play goalie, and he's pretty good. Then again I'm biased. I have as much fun watching him play sports as I ever did playing, probably more. Hopefully he keeps it up because it's a blast.
